| The Transfomers: The Movie | |
| | The very first Transformers movie was
the animated one in 1986. It was conceived as a continuation
            of then-current Transformers
TV cartoon series but set twenty years in the future (2005).
Most long-time fans seem to like the animated movie and its
animation stands as an example of some of  the best (if
            not, the best) TF
cartoon from the 80s. It was released August 1986 and
unfortunately did not do very well at the box office. Release date: August 8, 1986. |
| Beast Wars Second: The Movie | |
| | Beast Wars Second: The Movie was a sequel
to the popular Japanese TV series, Beast Wars Second (itself a sequel to the
            Canadian cgi Beast Wars
TV series).  The full title is Beast Wars Second:
                LioConvoy Kiki Ippatsu (apparently
LioConvoy in Imminent Danger!)  As you might
have guessed, this movie only appeared in Japan exclusively
and consisted of a recap of the Beast Wars cartoon up to
that point, an original English language showing of the
            episode Bad Spark
(as a preview of the series still to come) and then an
original cel animated portion (the aforementioned Lioconvoy
in Imminent Danger!) The story involved the Cybertron
leader, Lioconvoy being in some kind of danger and the other
Cybertrons sending for Optimus Primal (from the regular BW)
to come and aid him. This movie was released theatrically
(no information is available on how well it did or Japanese
fan reaction). Release date: December 19, 1998. |
| Transformers | |
| | Released in 2007, the very
first live-action Transformers movie was directed by Michael
Bay, with a script from Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci.
General movie-goer reaction to this film appears to be
positive while critics seem to have hated it. The hardcore
fans seem split on their opinion of the film's value to the
brand as a whole. Release date: July 4, 2007. |
| Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | |
| | The follow-up to the first
live action movie. It was even louder, full of still more
Transformers, explosions and bad writing. Directed once
again by Michael Bay, with a story from Alex Kurtman, Robert
Orci and Ehrin Khrueger. Like the first movie, it made a
dump truck full of money for the studio. Release date: June 24, 2009. |
| Transformers: Dark of the Moon | |
| | The third movie in the
Michael Bay trilogy, Dark of the Moon promises a more
intense story with bigger Earth shattering consequences.
Story written by Ehrin Khrueger. Release Date: June 29, 2011. |
| Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters
                Predacons Rising | |
| | An animated film that wraps
up the Prime TV series. Features two new Predacons,
the return of Unicron and more! Story written by Duane
Capizzi, Marsha F. Griffin and Steven Melching. Release Date: October 4, 2013 (TV movie). |
| Transformers: Age of Extinction | |
| | The fourth movie in the
Michael Bay films. A mechanic and his daughter make a
discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons - and a
paranoid government official - on them. Story written by
Ehrin Khrueger. Release Date: June 27, 2014. |
