Cosmos with Universe Cosmos
Cosmos and Cosmos (vehicles)

Cosmos is another excellent G1 redux. He transforms fairly easily (Swerve is slightly easier). He's very pose-able and looks great in either mode (his space ship form has a fin on the end like the Universe one did. This seems to be a new thing the designers go for. It does help distinguish the back of the saucer better though). Payload is a bit simplistic but he looks decent and makes a great gun for Cosmos.

Verdict:  Excellent. A must-buy for the G1 fan!

What you see is what you get with Swerve. He looks great in both modes and is easy to transform (one of the easier ones I've done in recent memory). Flanker is a bit simplistic but he's an okay addition and gives Swerve a needed gun. Swerve's big grin is a bit cartoonish looking (but I realize it's supposed to reflect his current IDW comic appearance so I'll allow it :). Definitely worth picking up if you love the G1 Minibots.

Verdict: Excellent. A must-buy for G1 fans!

I had the opportunity to purchase a G1 Scoop many years ago but never did (I regret that decision. I only ever owned Quickmix of the trio). Fortunately, for 2014, I get to rectify that mistake with an all-new mold based off the original. This new toy is colored perfectly and looks great (we need more orange Transformers!) I do like the prototype pic on the back of the package a bit better--it has a dual toned yellow/orange scoop on the toy while the final product is only orange (but I'm nitpicking). The joints are firm and the toy was relatively easy to change between forms. Scoop's Targetmaster partners (Caliburst and Holepunch) are pretty cool too and an improvement over their G1 brick-like counterparts (these have moving arms!) Scoop's head is technically visible in vehicle mode but it's not that easy to see and didn't bother me. My only complaint about the TMs is that their handle pieces come loose a bit too easily (but they can be snapped back in place). Hasbro, can we have Quickmix and Landfill next? :)

Verdict:  Excellent. A must buy!

Skids versus his old nemesis!

My toy was a bit loose-limbed. I'm not sure if they're all like that or just this one I picked up (at any rate, it didn't affect the toy that much). I like this toy better then I thought I would (the vehicle mold is not what I would traditionally associate with Skids. On the other hand, Crossovers are all the rage now so maybe it is appropriate. Certainly it's a better fit then making Perceptor into an SUV!) This was another toy where I had to work to massage the parts in order to get the vehicle form to lock together correctly. All in all, this isn't a bad toy and I think I might actually appreciate it a bit more now that I actually own one.

Verdict: Very Good. A great update for the G1 character.

This is an excellent example of a new mold based off a previous character. I found the new toy to be nice looking and mostly easy to transform (had a little bit of trouble figuring out how to get his legs/arms to fit right but eventually doped it out). The mold is pretty solid in both forms. I also liked the wing "flapping" gimmick the toy has. In comparing the original toy (FOX Kids recolor) and this newer one I'm not sure which I like better--the original is a little bit easier to change but the new one is also very nice.

VerdictExcellent. A must buy for Beast Wars fans.
