Thunderwing

With a nice robot mode that evokes it's Generation One namesake, Thunderwing is one sweet toy. His jet mode looks good too and even comes with a detachable nosecone drone thingy (some say this is supposed to remind us of his original Pretender toy. Personally, I don't see the point in it). I may be doing something wrong, but mine won't stay balanced in jet mode even with wheels deployed.  His transformation isn't too complicated for a change (which is always nice). The one major downside to this toy is that he's smaller scale then Megatron and the others, which sucks since he's supposed to be big and imposing. Perhaps a Voyager class toy would've made more sense in this instance?

Verdict:  A very good toy although I wish he were bigger.

Generations Dirge

I don't really have a lot to say about Dirge. He's yet another Seeker toy and certainly it's nice to add him to the collection (along with the forthcoming Thundercracker) but he doesn't blow me away. He's mostly just there. My copy had some minor extra bits of plastic on the legs and arms (lazy quality control. I'm not too riled up about it though). His transformation is the same as Ramjet and Thrust before him (not too hard, in other words).

Verdict:  A nice addition to any fan's Seeker armada!

Generations Blurr

Generations Blurr shares his mold with the Drift toy previously released. He has a new head mold and a set of guns (instead of blades). He's a good reuse of the mold and I don't have any real complaints with the toy (actually, the right hand won't hold his pistol straight but I think it's just my particular toy). As a new version of G1 Blurr I don't feel like the head represents Blurr as well as it could (it synchs up well with the IDW version but I don't see the toy and immediately think "oh hey! It's Blurr!")

Verdict:   A good toy and a good recolor/remold of the Drift mold.

Reveal The Shield Legends Class (Wave One)

Micro size has the power to surprise! All four of these releases are nice representations of their G1 counterparts. I'm particulary giddy about having a G1 Megatron that turns into a micro gun! How cool is that? Of this initial assortment, all of the toys are nice for the price point. That is, of course, except for Optimus Prime.

Optimus Prime...where did they go wrong with you? His robot mode is decent enough, as is his vehicle mode. The problem is that he can't actually change between them! They put tabs on the inside leg/torso to keep his legs in-place in robot form. But while attempting to change forms, the legs snap off every single time! I really don't seem to be able to change his forms (the pics were accomplished by cheating and putting the two pieces together to make it look like he's right, but he's not). I don't know if this is overestimating the tolerances of the toy or I just got a bad one but either way, I'd avoid the Optimus Prime at all costs.
I'm also not crazy on a gold colored Bumblebee (it's supposed to evoke Goldbug) because it isn't that good of a toy and it's already been released the original way before (I have the Japanese version that was done as Cliffjumper though). At least he change forms okay though.

Verdict:  Avoid the Optimus Prime toy at all cost. He's a waste of money. Otherwise, the others are good toys (from a design perspective) and worth it if you like those characters.
